Financial Considerations
I believe that paying for therapy is an investment in the process. You are putting money and time into changing something about your life. I make an equal investment of my time and expertise.
After doing battle with managed care (insurance) companies for years, I decided that insurance is simply not worth it. Thus, I no longer take any insurance plans.
My rates are $110 for the first 90-minute session then $80 for subsequent 60-minute sessions.
No-Shows, Cancellations, Urgent Care
I have a one-strike, you're out policy. If you don't show up or call to cancel your appointment, I simply assume that this process is not important to you. While a flat tire or a sick child is a valid excuse, forgetting about the appointment is not.
Should you need to cancel your appointment, please do so as far in advance as possible. If it is the day of your appointment, call me on my cell phone. Do not rely on email as a way to reach me quickly. If you need to come in prior to your next scheduled appointment, call me on my cell phone.
Therapeutic Process
Therapy is a process of change. You are not a broken watch that needs to be fixed. This is a didactic process; we do the work together. I see my role as a catalyst for change. I provide you with ideas, suggestions, and guidance but ultimately, most of the work takes place in your everyday life where you apply what we discuss.
Sometimes, people are simply having a difficult time getting through a stressful period in their life and they need someone objective to talk with about this. I am more than willing to provide this service which is scientifically proven to help people through life transitions.
In the event that your presenting problem is something that I feel unqualified to handle, I will tell you so. I want you to receive the best care possible even if that means referral to another therapist.
